A massive explosion shook Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, on Tuesday. According to the reports, at least 25 people have died and hundreds more were injured following the explosion.
Lebanon’s state news agency NNA said the blast happened in Beirut’s port area where there are warehouses housing explosives. It is not clear what exactly caused the blast or what kind of explosives were in the warehouses.
As Israeli Officials say, Israel Was Not Involved In The Beirut Explosion
Israeli officials have said that Israel has nothing to do with the huge explosion at the Beirut port area. Israel’s Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi told N12, an Israeli news television programme that the explosion was most likely an accident caused by a fire.
As the head of General Security, Abbas Ibrahim reported after having visited the site of the explosion, it appears that the blast was caused by highly explosive materials which were stored in the warehouses.
