Turkey attacks Syria. Following the attack, 35 Syrian government troops were “neutralized”, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The attack was carried out using F-16 aircrafts, which led to the death of 6 Turkish soldiers. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights declared that the death toll is at least 13.
Moreover, Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Russia, Syria’s ally, not to intervene in Turkish operations, as this conflict is of Turkish and Syrian interest only.
Syrian government forces intensified their recent Idlib offensive in western Syria, the last province controlled by the rebels. Turkey deployed a few hundred troops to observation posts there in 2018, part of an agreement with Russia to create a zone for extrication in the area.
“We should renounce ourselves”, said President Erdogan, before leaving to Ukraine. Describing the dead Turkish as martyrs, he added “It isn’t an option for us to keep quiet”, considering inadmissible for them to remain indifferent when his people are concerned.
