Trump is still in denial about the severity of the coronavirus crisis. Coronavirus has been infecting and killing people for three months now while causing at the same time serious economical issues. However, President Trump doesn’t seem to realize how bad the pandemic truly is.
It is unbelievable how the same man who claimed he knew more about ISIS than the generals calls the shots now, based on instincts and personal beliefs.
“Many very good experts, very good people too, said this would never affect the United States. The experts got it wrong. A lot of people got it wrong and a lot of people didn’t know it would be this serious.”.
“It was inevitable!”
The whole world is terrified
Right now, the world is fighting to escape three major crises: medical, economical, and social. What is currently happening worldwide will have consequences for many years from now and to think about those incredibly negative effects is simply frightening. Instead of being honest to his country and raise awareness about the difficult situation we’re facing, President Trump chooses to minimize the crisis. He doesn’t seem to care that people are losing their lives or their friends and loved ones. What is more important is for people to “get back to work”.
“The eternal lockdown crowd can make jokes on television but the reality is, is that the data’s on our side and President Trump has created a pathway to safely reopen our country.” – Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner
It seems like Trump is being ridiculed even by his own experts. His idea of injecting disinfectant just proved his unpreparedness in tragic times like these. Just like he thought it’d be a good idea to reopen schools.
“I think what happens is it’s going to go away. This is going to go away. And whether it comes back in a modified form in the fall, we’ll be able to handle it.”
Although experts think it will be rather difficult to fight the virus in a modified form, Trump doesn’t agree. Optimism would normally be admirable, but is it what it takes to save a whole country from coronavirus? And is this truly optimism, or just pure denial?
