“Every legend has a grain of truth,” that’s what my father used to tell me when I was asking him about the legend of King Arthur or about the witches. Later, I learned that not only legends but stories of all kinds have the same rule. And that’s how we ended up talking about the virus that scared the world. What myths about Coronavirus do you know?
MYTH NO. 1 – CORONAVIRUS IS CREATED BY MAN
Reality: At the moment, only an assumption created by followers of conspiracy theories.
The virus is believed to have been created as a biological weapon in a Wuhan laboratory but has been neglected. Another theory circulating on the territory of China is that COVID-19 first appeared in America, being extended only to China. The reason? This year, a large number of Americans died from the flu.
However, scientists are not sure of the cause of the virus, but, based on research, it has been concluded that the intermediary that led to the transmission of Coronavirus is the bat.
MYTH NO. 2- CHILDREN DO NOT get sick
Fact: Coronavirus affects all age groups, but it is prone to the elderly and those who already have respiratory problems or a weakened immune system.
MYTH NO. 3- THE VITAMIN C AND THE GARDEN IN THE DEPARTURE VIRUS FROM CHINA
The reality: Natural remedies, including vitamin C and garlic, are very good at protecting from seasonal colds. However, they are not strong enough to keep the dreaded virus away.
MYTH NO. 4- PEOPLE WHO SUFFER FROM CORONAVIRUS WILL DIE
Fact: The worldwide mortality rate is 2% and it decreases, according to WHO. There have been cases where people have healed.
MYTH NO. 5- You MUST wear the MANDATORY MASK
Reality: Only the sick ones should wear a mask. Improper wearing can lead to damage to your health because they increase the risk of infection. Also, buying them in excess only increases the price. People who work in hospitals and those who are infected really need masks at a lower price.
MYTH NO. 6- HEAT KILLS THE VIRUS
The reality: Just because Donald Trump said that with the coming of spring, nobody has anything left, that doesn’t mean it’s true. So do not rush to the hand dryers in the bathrooms, because you will not be protected from infection. On the contrary, there are far more microbes out there than on a dry towel.
Also, a small bottle of disinfectant will help you more than hurt your skin by overexposure to UV rays.
MYTH NO. 7- CORONAVIRUS IS TRANSMITTED BY MAIL
The reality: Stay chill, go and get that package that came after 6 months from AliExpress. The coronavirus cannot be transmitted by mail, although it was initially considered that. However, researchers are still unsure of the exact way of transmission of the virus and are guided by the behavior of others in the same family. Apparently, COVID-19 does not stay on objects much.
The panic produced worldwide was, in fact, not built by well-established facts and arguments, but by the mass media. Coronavirus does not have higher mortality than the common flu, which has been proven and reaffirmed on social networks. Why did this panic occur? God knows. My guess? In view of the previous conflict, namely, the hypothesis of the Third World War, we can say that the spread of COVID-19 panic had a very good reason.
You should not panic about this virus, so you might read another article here!
