The police officer shot in the head in Las Vegas protest is now paralyzed! George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis was followed by numerous protests all over the US.
On June 1st, in Vegas, a police officer was shot in the head and is now paralyzed from the neck down and unable to speak, according to his family.
Shay Mikalonis is only 29 and he was accepted at a spine rehabilitation center. Also, he is expected to stay on the ventilator until his condition improves.
His family expressed gratitude towards the medical staff at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
“Again, our family can never express our gratitude for all the support for Shay. We are always Las Vegas Strong and so proud of our community,”
The shooter is a 20-year-old man and he has already been charged for deliberately shooting the officer. He is currently charged with attempted murder, battery and firearms charges and is being held in lieu of $1 million. According to his defender, Edgar Samaniego will plead not guilty.
