The best tiramisu recipe you’ll ever try

Tiramisu is one of the most appreciated Italian desserts out there, and for a good reason: it’s a crowd-pleaser that’s relatively easy to make, not to mention that it’s a hit among coffee lovers. Here, I’ll show you how to make an easy, authentic tiramisu that’s sure to be appreciated by your friends and family.


  • store-bout ladyfingers (or you can take things a step further and make your own)
  • cocoa powder
  • espresso or some other strong coffee, chilled

Ingredients for the tiramisu cream:

  • 3 egg yolks
  • 85 grams of sugar
  • 200 grams of mascarpone
  • 100 grams of heavy cream


  • Combine the egg yolks and the sugar, whisking them until the sugar is almost fully dissolved.
  • Afterwards, place the mixture over a double boiler (make sure your bowl doesn’t touch the water) and continue whisking with a hand mixer until it doubles in size and forms soft peaks. Be careful not to overheat your cream, or it will become an omelet. (Traditionally, most tiramisu recipes use raw eggs, but for safety purposes this one uses heat-treated eggs).
  • Remove the cream from the heat and let it cool down to room temperature. Meanwhile, whip your heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  • In a separate bowl, whip you mascarpone for about 30-60 seconds, just enough so that its consistency becomes creamier.
  • When the egg mixture is cooled, mix it with the mascarpone before gently folding in the whipped cream, trying to retain as much air into the mixture as possible.
  • Afterwards, you can start assembling your tiramisu. You can either use a bigger tray or something like glasses if you want to make individual servings of the dessert. Start by dunking the ladyfingers into the coffee, then laying them into your dish and adding some of the cream on top, repeating until your cream is finished.
  • Dust your tiramisu with cocoa powder on top and keep in the fridge for at least 2-3 hours (overnight is the best) before enjoying it.
