The best Christmas movies that you shouldn't miss this December

It’s November, but we can already feel the Christmas spirit in the air. The shops are already full with Christmassy stuff and people already think of gifts which they will buy for their loved ones. Some people already decorated their homes and started to think about the special day and what they will do on that day.

To prepare yourselves for Christmas and to get into the Christmas vibe, what better way than watching the greatest Christmas movies? So, with this article, I will try to recommend you some movies that I think are best at spreading the Christmas cheer and that will transpose you into a dreamlike story and will convey to you strong feelings, making you to look forward to this holiday.

The most known Christmas movie “Home Alone” (1990)

Every person from this person knows this movie and have watched at least 2 times because this film is so televised especially during Christmas time, as it is impossible not to have seen it at least once in your life. The story presents Macauley Culkin, who portrays a little boy, Kevin McCallister, who finds himself home alone when his family leaves for Paris without him, by mistake.

During these days, he will have to protect the house from a pair of thieves.  The story is so beautifully told, accentuated by the musical score, which is magical. Macauley Culkin’s acting and the sentimental story and ending makes the movie worth watching and a classic when it comes to Christmas movies.

“Elf” (2003)

Sometimes, a good actor who will embody the character perfectly and will transmit the story so beautifully is all you need to produce a good Christmas movie. For example, Will Ferrell was the perfect choice for the portrayal of Buddy, a human who lived all his life at the North Pole under the impression that he is part of the elf community.

Buddy is portrayed as a childish guy who meets his long-lost father, and also falls in love for the first time with Zooey Deschanel’s character, Jovie. The scene where Jovie starts singing and all the other characters starts to accompany her, is so heartfelt and makes this movie a great choice for when you want to feel the Christmas spirit.

“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” (2001)

Undoubtedly, the first movie from the Harry Potter series is the best to watch during the winter holiday because it transcribes in a perfect way the happiness and the wonderment of the children when it comes to this holiday.

This movie presents Harry’s and the other characters’ first Christmas spent at Hogwarts. The scene where it is snowing so beautifully, the Great Hall is decorated in a magical way and the scene where Harry and Ron open the gifts that they received will certainly transport you into a Christmassy state of being.

“The Holiday” (2006)

I watched this great movie with such amazing actors such as: Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black, so many times and it has become my favourite movie and choice when it comes to preparing for this holiday.

The story presents two women who got bored of their everyday life and chose to switch houses and also continents, to try to get out of their comfort zone. Undoubtedly, the two women will go through some changes, will find their soulmates in unexpected people and will also get the chance to spend the holiday in a unforeseen way.

“The Princess Switch” (2018)

This movie is not a classic but I think it is worth watching because it was entirely filmed in Romania and it shows the country and the castle where it was filmed in a very Christmassy vibe. The two protagonists are played by Vanessa Hudgens, who embodies a princess and also, a Chicago baker.

In conclusion, grab your loved ones, make some hot chocolate for yourselves, get your coziest blanket, warm up on your couch and turn on your favourite Christmas movie and get into the holiday spirit!
