Whether you are into skincare or not, however fancy or simple your skincare routine (if any at all), you HAVE TO use sunscreen! Always and forever! You may not have any skin concerns to address, or you may not need or want to invest in any skincare product whatsoever, which I totally understand. But SPF products are something you should definitely consider using if you haven’t already, and there is no excuse or reason not to do so.
Use SPF on a daily basis
Daily use of sunscreen is the best way to prevent many skin problems caused by the harmful UVB and UVA rays coming from the sun, from sunspots and premature ageing to skin cancer. In order for it to offer maximum protection, you have to wear products with SPF DAILY on all areas of your body that are going to be exposed to the sun.
Yes, you’ve read it right! Be it summer or winter, hot or cold, sunny or cloudy, you have to use sunscreen each and every single day of the year, even if you don’t go outside. And make sure you reapply it twice a day or more, depending on how much sun exposure you are going to get.
Lather yourself in sunscreen, from head to toe!
Keep in mind that there are some areas that people tend to overlook when it comes to applying sunscreen: the lips, the tip of the ears and behind the ears, the area under and around the eyes, the palms, and even the scalp!
I know it can be really uncomfortable to use SPF creams on your lips or around the eyes, especially because these particular areas tend to be more sensitive, and many people experience stinging or burning when they apply sunscreen there. Not to mention the scalp! Who wants to cover their hair roots in sunscreen, moreover that some of us have already problems with excessive oiliness?
Different products for different needs
The good news is that there are plenty of lip balms and scalp sprays with SPF available on the market, as well as some sunscreens specifically designed for sensitive skin and the around the eyes area. So, there are life-saving products for each of us. I have reviewed 7 of my favourite SPF 50 sunscreens for you, so you can give my article a read here and find your personal favourite.
It might seem exaggerated to use SPF products on your scalp, lips, or ears, but don’t take my words for granted, as I am no expert. Go check the experts’ opinions and see for yourself! My favourite skincare YouTube channel from where I’ve learned all I know about sunscreen is Dr Dray. She is a dermatologist and an advocate of sunscreen, and she has very informative videos on sunscreen benefits, as well as many useful reviews on different products. What I’ve told you here is just the gist of it, so go check her out for more professional advice.
