Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala, Nelly Furtado… These are just a few artists whose songs are viral for the first time and even for a second time on the well-known and addictive app TikTok. Here’s a list of tunes that you might have encountered on your For You Page at least once:

Promiscuous by Nelly Furtado & Timbaland (2006)

This song was and still is one of my favorites to listen to. It went viral back in October 2020 and now it’s viral once again in February 2021. TikTokers are making videos of themselves dancing and lip-syncing to the song.

Rasputin by Boney M (1978)

Boney M’s songs are the epitome of disco and pop music of the late 70s and 80s. One of their most popular songs “Rasputin” is viral on TikTok at the moment. The “Rasputin Dance Challenge” has TikTokers showing off their muscles, looks and dance moves, copying Boney M’s very own choreography of the song.

Play Date by Melanie Martinez (2015)

Another of one my most played songs up to this day. The song “Play Date” went viral last year thanks to a fanmade edit of actor Timothée Chalamet dancing in slow motion. The song was used in many other edits of celebrities. Some TikTokers would create funny scenarios in which they would move in slow motion using this song.

Let It Happen by Tame Impala (2015)

Honestly, I wasn’t a big fan of Tame Impala’s music until most of their songs became viral on TikTok. The “You must be the…” trend was very popular in the summer of 2020 even though “Let It Happen” was released back in 2015. It was a hidden gem (to me) and thanks to this trend Tame Impala’s music got a lot more recognition.

Do I Wanna Know by the Arctic Monkeys (2013)

This one is for the Indie Rock music lovers like me. This song is a timeless classic and I never get tired of listening to it. If you were on Tumblr back in 2013 or 2014, your feed must have been clogged with that black and white aestheticespecially with the cover of Arctic Monkeys’ album which you can see in the video down below.
