Oats are a really healthy alternative for breakfast or a great idea for dessert. Not everyone is fond of eating oats, and sometimes people might find them a bit bland. Especially if they decide not to use milk and choose to opt for substitutes such as almond or coconut milk. However, since oats can be paired with a lot of fruits and go really well with most toppings, finding a great recipe with which you will be satisfied is not that hard.
From my experience, oats are amazing. They are really easy to prepare and very nourishing. Oats are ideal when you are in a hurry and want something that can give you energy and keep you satiated in the long run. If you have a really demanding job and rarely find some time to just relax and eat, oats are your go-to. And the best thing- they can be packed as a snack to have it wherever you are!

How to make oatmeal
You just need to mix any type of milk you like with oats, usually the best ratio being ½ cup of oats to ½ cup of milk. Then microwaving them for about 2 minutes is the easiest way to go. Just remember to add a little sugar or honey and a touch of salt, so it can have more flavor. If you find your oats mixture a bit tasteless, even if you added sugar to it, it might be because you are missing a pinch of salt. Salt is often used when preparing desserts as well, just a bit in the mixture can help to bring out the taste.
Chocolate banana oats
If you love chocolate, and you’re craving something sweet, this might be the perfect idea for you. After you prepared the oatmeal, add some chocolate chips and some banana slices. You can let the chocolate melt or just serve right away. It’s the best breakfast for a lazy day in bed, or when you need some extra energy on a busy day at work.
Strawberry and cream oats
If you are reaching for something light, but still really tasty, this will work wonders. You just need to add a little of half-and-half, or Greek yogurt to your oatmeal and strawberry slices. You can also use strawberry jam instead, and add a finishing touch of white chocolate sprinkles. The sweet and delicate flavor of strawberries will definitely help you start the day with a smile on your face.
Blueberry jam oats
You may find out that even if you just decide to add some blackberry (or you can just switch to blueberry jam if you want) to your mixture will turn it into the best dessert. There’s something unique to the simplicity of this dish that makes it just perfect. It may have to do with the fact that they go really great together.
Apple cinnamon oats
This is my favorite dish ever. First, you need to grate an apple and mix it with half a spoon of sugar and some cinnamon. You can decide how much you want to add to your oatmeal. But if you want it to taste the best, you can also microwave the milk and oats for just a minute, add the apple and cinnamon mixture, and then microwave them for another minute. It always remind me of winter, and the homemade cinnamon apple pie my mother used to make. This is the true flavor of childhood.
If you never tried them before, it might take a couple of mixed ingredients to make you fully enjoy a bowl of oats. You can always experiment with your favorite fruits and toppings. Some people also enjoy adding flax seeds, raisins, and also peanut butter. You just can’t go wrong!
