Planning out your day is one of the best things you can do if you want to have an organized schedule for university, high school, and any other job. I am planning out my days even from when I was in the second year of high school and I can say that this is definitely a great way to benefit from your day to a maximum.
After I experienced a lot with planning, I can tell you that there are 3 tips I recommend you do when you are planning your day, week, or month.
Set manageable goals
When you first start planning, it may be hard to do it in a way that you actually achieve all that you write down. From my own experience, I can tell you that the best way of planning is the one where you take into consideration all the aspects that actually occur in real life.
Therefore, when thinking, for example, of your day, you can take into consideration the time you spend procrastinating, the time you spend doing little things for yourself, like your skincare routine, the time you spend going out and meeting up with friends, the time you spend thinking about all your assignments and always, but always, take some time just in case something important comes up.
I believe that the best way to do all of these is to have an overview of all your to-do activities and think as well as you can how long it actually takes to do every single one of them. Then, you have to think of all the factors I mentioned above and other aspects that might be of interest to you and plan your day out in a manageable manner.
Keep your planning period as short as you can
I personally tried all kinds of planning and for me, it worked out the best when I kept the period shorter. When the period is long, like a week or even a month, I think the planning starts distancing itself from an accurate version.
When you plan things out for a day, it is easier to predict what is going to happen and you therefore can make a better version that will actually work out for you. When you start planning weekly, things get a little bit harder, because your activities are not as predictable as they were before. And when you start doing it monthly, it is definitely the hardest and the planning might not work out as you think.
What I recommend though, is to make a list of all your assignments, even for a whole month, because it is the best way to plan better. When you have a clear image of all of your activities, you can organize them better than you can imagine.
Do not overreact if something does not go as planned
When I have first started planning, it was hard for me to accept the failures that might occur from time to time in your agenda. Even when you try to take into account all the aspects that might alter your plans, there is still the possibility that something goes wrong and you cannot achieve all that you expected from that day.
Even though it might seem like a big deal at first, it is not your fault that it does not always go as planned. What is the most important thing that you have to know when you try to organize your life better is that there might be bad days, unorganized days, sad days, procrastinating days, just days you do not want to get out of bed, but all of these are just normal experiences that are meant to help you be a better person eventually.
