Lately, I’ve been nostalgic because I was thinking about MTV and the songs that were in heavy rotation in the 2000s when I was a kid. MTV kind of molded our childhood and honestly, I miss that channel. I made up a list of 50 songs that defined my childhood. It’s crazy how I still know the lyrics by heart even though I haven’t listened to these songs since then. Also, I remember VH1, another music channel that has closed. Oh my God, what if I’m old? 2000s was the decade that gave us our favourite bangers. This list includes the very best rap, pop, rock, R&B, hip hop, dance and indie tunes from the decade.
We are prone to associate good music to the music we used to listen when we were children. I’ve always wondered why MTV shut down. Well, as far as I know, MTV stopped playing music because of the ever increasing demands of the Music Industry for higher licencing fees. Their demands were too high so MTV moved the videos to their less popular sister company VH1, where licencing fees were lower. Thus, MTV and VH1 were related in some way. Well, this article is a kind of tribute if you want to say like that. Enjoy!
