We all know that a dog is a man’s best friend and most of us have felt the indescribable affection this pet can offer. But which dogs are the most affectionate? I am an animal lover and I own two stray dogs myself, so I can say that they are capable of giving an undeniable amount of affection. However, throughout the years I’ve met and talked to many dog owners and I’ve come up with a list of 5 dog breeds that are kid-friendly and are going to fill up your life with love.
1. Cavalier King Spaniel
This dog breed is famous for the sweet facial features that portray innocence. These types of dogs are not only gentle but exceptionally graceful. They are children-lovers, definitely strengthening the quote “a man’s best friend”. They loathe being left alone and can sometimes feel abandoned if their owners don’t give them the affection they desire.
2. Golden Retriever
I’ve always wanted to have a Golden Retriever as I know for sure they are the most adorable dogs ever! That is only my opinion, of course, but I do have proof that supports it. One of my best friends has a Retriever named Lolly and whenever I come over he wiggles his tail and licks me as a greeting. They are impressively tolerant which makes them “a man’s best friend” and, in this case, the perfect dog to have around small children. Retrievers are also intelligent and can be great therapy dogs if needed.
Their incredible loyalty has made Collies one of the most desirable family dogs. These dogs have an infinite stash of love to offer and they’ll never run out! There is one special thing about Collies that everyone should pay attention to- they are extremely sensitive, probably one of the most sensitive dog breeds. They need lots of affection in return.
It’s clear that everyone adores pugs. Their little ears, big noses, and tiny curly tails can steal anyone’s heart. They are adaptable and will follow their owners wherever they decide to go. A pug will fill your life with joy as its tiny paws rest in your hands. They enjoy being pet and they absolutely adore children. They are a definition of “a man’s best friend” because no matter what you do, they won’t stop giving you unconditional love.
Although they hate apartments, Labradors can be amazing yard dogs. A temperate climate is their favorite and they need to be groomed well. Like all the other dogs on this list, Labradors don’t like being left alone and they are notorious for making a mess when they feel lonely. Even though they are pretty big dogs, they are great with kids and will play with them without getting bored.
All in all, the decision of adopting a dog is an enormous change in your life and it is best to think about the kind of dog you need beforehand. Every dog is special in its way but different, just like we all are, so to ensure that your dog will become your best friend you have to correlate his lifestyle to yours.
