Right now, Simona Halep is taking part in the Australian Open, one of the biggest worldwide tennis competitions. In 2018, she took part at AO and she reached the final.

Nowadays she declared some things that make everyone think about her future in tennis. Right after she found out about Caroline Wozniacki’s withdrawal, Simona spoke about it.

Wozniacki was world leader in tennis for 71 weeks, she won over 30 tournaments, including one Grand Slam (Australian Open 2018) and one at the Champions Tournament (Singapore 2017)and she is one of eight players (Navratilova, Evert, Graff, Sharapova, Wade, Goolagong, Serena Williams) who have managed to win at least one trophy for 10 consecutive years or more.

Friends outside the field

As a friend outside of the tennis court and as an opponent inside of it, Simona Halep found out the news about Caroline’s withdrawal and held a speech about it at a conference, when she was asked about her own withdrawal.

“Honestly, I talked to my brother about it yesterday. I haven’t thought about it yet, I’ll probably do the same way as she (Wozniacki) did, I’ll announce it’s the last tournament, and then I will retire. I can’t say it’s the last year, because I change my mind quite often and it’s not good.

I will probably announce before a tournament and then I will be OUT of this world”said number 2 WTA.

What happend with Wozniacki?

After she lost while playing with Ons Jabeur in Melbourne in the third round, Caroline ended her career as a professional player. She wanted to announce in December last year that the Australian Open would be her last tournament and that was it. The sportswoman said that she was overcome by the mistakes she tried to avoid all her career.

“I will always remember many things. The achievements in the field are amazing, the fans, the feelings you make us feel when you come and encourage us at the matches, the support received from the family, especially from my father, the one who has trained me all these years “- said the 29 years old danish tennis player.
