Christopher Nolan’s biopic about the father of the atomic bomb took home the night’s top awards: best picture, best director, best actor in a drama for Cillian Murphy, who plays Robert Oppenheimer, and best supporting actor for Robert Downey Jr., who plays a politician and arch-rival of the scientist.
The role in “Oppenheimer” earned Cillian Murphy the award for best lead actor in a motion picture-drama at the 81st Golden Globe Awards held in Beverly Hills, according to the account of X ( former Twitter) of the event.
This is the first Golden Globe in the career of Cillian Murphy, who was also nominated in 2006 for his performance in “Breakfast on Pluto”.
Bradley Cooper – “Maestro”, Leonardo Dicaprio – “Killers of the Flower Moon”, Colman Domingo – “Rustin”, Barry Keoghan – “Saltburn”, and Andrew Scott – “All of Us Strangers” were also nominated in this category.
Last year, the prize in this category was won by Austin Butler (“Elvis”).
