Titus Banc, the Romanian travelling by motorcycle for 3 months in South America, has reached the end of Carretera Austral today.
Titus started his motorcycle adventure in Santiago right after he claimed Zebra, his motorcycle partner. Passing through Harnopiren, after hours spent on the ferry, through Puerto Montt, Puerto Rio Tranquilo (Chile), Tortel, today he reached the end of Carretera Austral. In total, he traveled approximately 2350 km on mostly unpaved roads, driving off-road for most of the time.
What’s next? 48 hours on the ferry, some rest, and the continuation of the #GoSouth route.
Some impressions from the locations visited so far:
Puerto Rio Tranquilo- “The landscape is fabulous. I could say it looks like Norway here and there, but it’s different. Norway has the mountains piled up as if they were ready to fall on you, here the valleys are big, the mountains are big… everything is big!”
“A curiosity from the area: the inhabitants of Chile called this lake «Lake Chile», and those in Argentina called it «Saint Bertrand».”
Tortel: “There are no streets. All the access takes place on wooden pontoons. All the streets in this village look like this: made of wood.”
In Tortel, the man who owns the local shop is also the DJ of the local radio station.
The accommodations were also full of surprises:
