Oh, summer…Holiday, sun, stormy weather, free time and finally traveling again- this summer was the best! We dropped the heavy books of the colder days and engaged with some fun reads that easy-breezily warmed our hearts. Here are my recommendations for the best outstanding books reminiscing of the hot summer days:
1. People we meet on vacation
What the blurb says: “Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love.”
What I think: All. the. feels! Remember those epic rom-coms we all fell for? Think When Harry met Sally in a written form, peppered with delicious details of travels which, why not, could inspire you with the destination of your next trip.
Is it anything else more fun than the idea of a fully-paid vacation in one of the best spots in the world? What about seeing two quirky, self-professed enemies clear a series of terrible misunderstandings while slowly falling for each other?
3. Well Met
One of the older books on the list, Well Met’s medieval flavor would be just the right mood to remind you of summer. Follow Emily as she volunteers for the Summer Faire and gets swept away by the enchanted decorum transporting you back to Renaissance. Literature buffs could rejoice at the Shakespeare references but the read is breezy enough for it not to feel pretentious. Embrace the romance as sworn enemies discover their ways to each other in a book which will surely make you swoon
4. Beach Read
Long gone are the days on the sun, but be ready to recapture them with Emily Henry’s last summer’s hit. There is no mention of that terrible quarantine times. Instead, there is plenty of languor, a touch of competition, and lots of fun. Be ready to watch January Andrews, a fun-loving romance writer, and Augustus Everett, the serious high-brow author, compete in writing the best novel in the style of the other. Who do you think will win? Find out by giving it a read in the autumn sun.
5. Tokyo Ever After
Let’s end the summer vibe with an Oriental punch. This cute book will remind you of the well-loved Princess Diaries while transporting you to fascinating Tokyo. Get ready to follow Izumi Tanaka, Japan’s lost princess, in her quest to rediscover her legacy, meet her father (should I mention him being the Crown Prince?), and survive the pressure her new status involves. Striving to navigate the waters of princedom, her soulmate may be just around the corner. It’s up to you to find out if this princess gets her happy ending or succumbs to pressure and runs back to the American dream, by reading this fun little book you definitely won’t resist.
