It’s probably the case that you are reading this article now, full of boredom, and asking yourself: “What should I eat?” Bonus: You are short on cash and can’t afford a meal from a fancy restaurant. We got you. Stay tuned to find out more about the easiest meals that you can do by yourself (no experience required) as a college student.
Aside from home-sent meals and other frozen foods, I believe that there is another way. Making food has never been easier and I tend to believe that anyone should be able to prepare at least these 5 easy recipes:
Pasta with tuna and tomato sauce
Recipe is simple:
Sizzle some onions and minced garlic in a nice hot pan for 5 to 6 minutes, add the tuna, mix smoothly, add the tomato sauce, and mix again.
After they all combine smoothly, begin adding your cheese of choice. It may very well be any cheese: Parmesan, Mozzarella (fresh or dried), Gouda, literally anything. Turn the heat off and leave it nicely with a lid on so the cheese will melt accordingly. You’re done! Congrats!
Salami and Egg Breakfast Quesadillas
3 simple ingredients, an absolute madness of a recipe. Great way to start the morning and get that fresh protein energy. Easy to make (shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes) and definitely cheaper than your average fast-food restaurant.
Eggplant with Mayo
Although a Jewish-origin recipe, this has never been left out from the Romanian kitchen. An absolute delight, especially when enjoyed with fresh, crunchy bread. Even better-tasting when homemade mayonnaise is used.
Macaroni and cheese
Although notoriously unhealthy, depending on how much cheese you add, of course, this delight of a meal never seizes to amaze. Despite being so simple in the making, I tend to believe it’s one of the best choices when short on cash and time.
Nachos with homemade chili sauce
An iconic combination, but often renounced when taken with grocery-bought sauce, nachos with homemade sauce might actually be the lifesaver when on a tight budget. The nachos themselves are decently cheap, and the sauce price doesn’t count because I assume that all of us have spices and tomatoes in the house. Overall a great meal for the average student that is short on money and does not enjoy cooking that much.
