4 advantages and disadvantages of eating at restaurants

After so much time spent in houses, during the pandemic, people can finally go out and spend their free time with their friends, in different places. One of the most long-awaited moments of these years was the reopening of restaurants and bars, places that are frequented by many people. But, is it safe to go to restaurants, if the pandemic isn’t over yet?

Personally, I am the type of person who prefers to eat freshly cooked food at home, but on some occasions, I enjoyed going to a restaurant and eating with my friends. Now that all restrictions are no longer valid, I can’t be so sure to eat inside of a restaurant anymore. After all, the virus still exists and can still be spread.

Therefore, from my pandemic experience, I’ve decided to make a list of the benefits of eating at restaurants, but also the drawbacks which made me choose home-cooked meals.

Advantages:

1. You have more time for yourself

One of the most obvious advantages of eating at restaurants is that you have more time for your daily tasks. Maybe you have a job that won’t let you have time to cook something and therefore you either go out or order whatever you want. It’s easier and faster than going to a supermarket to get the ingredients, then going back home to prepare them and finally, start cooking.

Moreover, if you feel tired you can’t pay attention to what you do and you can burn the food or break a plate. There are so many things that can happen. And you will still end up ordering food, so cooking while you feel exhausted it’s a waste of time as well.

2. Have fun with your friends

This can be an advantage if you want to go out with your friends and try new dishes from different restaurants. Or you can make a reservation for a special occasion, which is also good because you don’t need to spend time preparing the food, you can use that time to prepare yourself.

People usually prefer to go out and eat because they can see their friends and make nice conversations while eating some delicious dishes. You and your friends can make plans to go to a restaurant you’ve never been to before and see if the place suits your tastes or not. But if you are not curious to eat from other places, you can still go to your favourite restaurant and enjoy your favourite meals. That will not stop you from creating great memories with your friends.

Disadvantages:

1. Food that can’t be always healthy

This reason applies more to fast foods, but there are always chances of getting some unhealthy type of meals. They can use some ingredients which may be dangerous for your health.

Maybe you’ve heard these kinds of situations as well, in movies or even in real life, where someone can receive a dish with some hair in it. It happened to me once, it was really disgusting. Sometimes, I’m pretty concerned about the hygiene of restaurants…

Therefore, why not cook at home? You know what you should eat or not and it’s always fresh and delicious. As a result, you will stay healthy and you will not have to bother worrying if there’s something gross in your food, since you’ve made it.

2. It’s cheaper

Restaurants will always have high prices because of the whole process of making food. Places with 5 stars will be the most expensive ones since they are trying to arrange the plates, in order to look spectacular.

I don’t understand this thing with eating arranged dishes, food has to maintain you healthy, not look like a piece of art from a certain museum. That’s why cooking is great, you don’t need to bother with the arrangement of the plate and you can save your money as well. After all, food is a necessary thing to live, it shouldn’t cost you much.

These are my reasons why restaurants are a good thing, but also a bit disadvantageous for some people. Going out to these places isn’t really bad, but it’s better if we wouldn’t turn this into a habit.

  1. I love that you mentioned how eating out at restaurants lets you hang around with friends. I am planning for a weekend hangout with my friends and I am thinking of eating out as our activity. There are lots of restaurants around the area so I should look for one that we would all enjoy.
