Whether your social media app of preference is TikTok, Facebook, or Instagram, chances are you’ve come across a bunch of trending recipes that have gone viral with the speed of light, and next thing you know, everyone is raving about them. The quarantine period of 2020 definitely had a fair share of them, and the following years were no exception either.

The Green Goddess Salad

One of the current most trending recipes seems to be the famous green goddess salad. But this is not your regular salad since people seem to eat it with tortilla chips, dipping them inside the salad just like when eating guacamole.

Ingredients:

  • One head of green cabbage
  • A couple of cucumbers
  • A couple of pieces of green onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • ½ cup cashews
  • A handful of spinach
  • 1 juiced lemon
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

Start by preparing the base of your salad. Chop up nicely the cabbage, cucumbers, and green onions, making sure they are cut into tiny pieces. That will probably take you most of the time as the making of the dressing won’t take you longer than 5 minutes. Simply blend the rest of the ingredients all together until you get a smooth consistency. Coat your goddess salad with the dressing and you’re free to start devouring it.

Pesto Eggs

If you are searching for a more creative way to cook your eggs, try the viral pesto eggs that will certainly give your boring everyday breakfast a little twist.

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red or green pesto
  • 2 pieces of bread
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

Heat up your frying pan and spread a generous amount of pesto on it. Crack your eggs, season them with all the ingredients listed above and cover the pan with a lid, letting the eggs cook for only a couple of minutes. Leave them a little bit longer if you don’t like runny yolks. In the meantime, prepare your bread slices by slightly toasting them until they get crispy and golden brown on both sides. Once everything is done, place your eggs on the toasted bread and serve while still warm.

The Spicy Egg Boil

If you don’t prefer eating fried eggs, why not give boiled eggs a go? Among the numerous trending recipes is this spicy egg boil.

Ingredients:

  • hard-boiled eggs
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce of choice
  • butter
  • ½ tablespoon brown sugar
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 onion
  • The juice of one lemon
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Oregano
  • Paprika
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

In a large pot bring your eggs to a boil and let them cook for 7-8 minutes. Meanwhile, melt your butter in a heated pan, chop the garlic and onion, and add them to the pan. Once they have been frying for 2-3 minutes, start adding the rest of the condiments. Let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes over low heat. Finally, cover your eggs with the sauce and enjoy the unique mixture of flavors.
