Movies have a big influence when it comes to my mood. Whenever I am sad, lonely, stressed or just need something to cheer me up, I go to any of these movies to make me feel better:
1. 10 Things I Hate About You – 1999
10 Things I Hate About You is a romantic comedy directed by Gil Junger and starring Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Larisa Oleynik.
This one if one of my all-time favourite movies, probably the best choice when you need something to lift your mood. The story starts with two sisters, Bianca and Katarina Stratford, which are extremely different, Bianca being one of the popular girls at school wanting to have more fun while Katarina being rather the smart one, less popular, and with no aim to date any soon. The situation changes when two guys ask Bianca to go to the prom with them, but the girls’ father says he won’t let her date until Katarina does. This is where Patrick comes, the guy that one of the guys will pay to make Katarina go out with him, so he could date her sister.
Overall, the movie is truly charming, and you’ll be smiling the entire time, especially at Heath Ledger’s performance to win Katarina’s heart. Watch it, and you’ll get what I’m talking about.
2. Cinderella – 2015
Cinderella is a 2015 romantic fantasy film directed by Kenneth Branagh and is an adaptation of Walt Disney’s animated version of the same story. It stars Lily James as the one and only Cinderella, Cate Blanchet, Richard Madder, Sophie McShera, Holiday Grainger and Helena Bonham Carter.
This movie portrays the story just as you know it, giving her life. Every part of this movie looks like a dream and the actors were greatly chosen, Lily James and Cate Blanchet being almost exactly how I imagined Cinderella and her stepmother.
If you want to escape a little and be given some hope, this is the movie for you.
3. Jerry Maguire – 1996
Jerry Maguire is a romantic comedy written, produced, and directed by Cameron Crowe, starring Tom Cruise, Cuba Gooding Jr., Renee Zellweger, and Regina King.
Jerry Maguire, a sports agent has a moral epiphany and is fired for expressing it, so he decides to put his new philosophy to the test as an independent agent with the only athlete who stays with him and his former colleague.
One of the best of Tom Cruise’s performances, Jerry Maguire is a great movie about second chances and following your dreams. It has amazing acting, direction, and soundtrack that will make you love it more and more with each viewing.
Well, these are my recommendations. I hope they will be useful and really lift your mood when you need it the most.
