Microwave meals are the best option when you get very hungry. Most of us use the microwave only to reheat the food or to prepare the semi-finished products purchased from the supermarket. But few know that they can use fresh ingredients to quickly prepare snacks, breakfast or even dinner. A popular myth says: microwave radiation deforms and destroys the molecules of substances contained in products, creating new compounds.

They can cause cancer, problems with the thyroid gland and stomach and help change the composition of the blood. Since 2008, the World Health Organization has responded to this verdict: microwave radiation has no harmful effect on people or food. So, here are 5 easy and quick microwave meals to try at home:

1.Banana Bread Mug Cake

This one is a very good option for vegans because it doesn’t contain any dairy products. If you want to make this, you’ll need:

  • 1/3 cup mashed bananas
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon almond milk  or other vegan milk
  • 1 tablespoon raw brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • pinch of sea salt
  • pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon chopped nuts and/or chocolate chips

In a mug, add the mashed banana, oil, milk and sugar. Whisk them together and then add in the flours, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. After you stir these ingredients, add in the nuts & chocolate chips if using and fold in. Feel free to sprinkle some of them on top. Place in your microwave for about 80 seconds. Remove, let cool for about 3 minutes and enjoy this tasty dessert.

2.One-Bowl Microwave Macaroni and Cheese

For this recipe you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup dried macaroni or shell pasta
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk, any percent
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup shredded cheese

Combine the pasta, water, and salt in a microwave-safe bowl. Place the pasta, water, and salt in a deep, microwave-safe bowl and stir to combine. Microwave on high power for 2 minutes, then stir. Continue microwaving in 2-minute intervals, stirring between each interval, until the pasta is soft and cooked through, 4 to 8 minutes more, depending on your microwave strength. Stir the milk and cheese into the pasta. This mac and cheese is best when piping hot from the microwave. If you need to reheat it, add an extra splash of milk.

3.Strawberry Microwave Breakfast Bowl

For this one you’ll need:

  • 1/4 cup oat bran
  • 2 Tbsp oat flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, diced

Mix together the oat bran, oat flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Stir in the vanilla, applesauce, and almond milk until all the dry ingredients are incorporated. Gently fold in the diced strawberries. Spray a microwave-safe baking dish and pour batter into the dish. Heat for 1 minute and 30 seconds, or until the top is set. Let it cool for 2-3 minutes and enjoy!
